Lapland Accommodations- A Wonderful Experience

In Lapland, you have a wide variety of accommodation types to choose from. You might opt to spend a night in the freezing Ice Hotel or choose a standard bed and breakfast or hotel found in ‘regular’ holiday destinations. Whatever your taste, the wide range of Lapland accommodation options will have something for you!

At Jukkasjärvi’s Icehotel, experience an art project like no other. Each year, ice blocks are taken from the nearby Torne River and sculpted to make the Icehotel, a hotel where everything is made out of ice – from the beds you sleep on to the glasses your drink from. From December to April, the sun never rises above the horizon, so the Icehotel is able to continue operations until the arrival of the midnight sun during summer. At the Icehotel, it is recommended that one night’s stay in the ‘cold’ accommodation is combined with more nights in the ‘warm’ (standard) accommodation, complete with a soft bed! The Icehotel is located in Swedish Lapland, although similar hotels made exclusively from ice are open for business during the summer months in Finnish Lapland.

There are several themed hotels available in Lapland for those who want something a little bit quirky. For example, in Akaslompolo, the ‘Snow Elf Hotel’ can be found, and several igloo hotels are scattered around Swedish and Finnish Lapland.

If you’d like to stay ‘mainstream’ and find your lodgings in a regular hotel, there are many such hotels around northern Scandinavia. In nearly every major town there is a ‘regular’ hotel and often, bed and breakfast facilities are available.

Lapland has something for everybody! No matter whether you are traveling with a family or by yourself, you will find what you are looking for in Lapland.
