More And More Visitors Exhilarated And Thrilled By Husky Safaris In Lapland – As Seen On 71 Degrees North

Increasing numbers of visitors to Lapland are discovering the truly unique experience offered by husky safaris in Lapland. Dog sledding holidays have seen a huge increase in popularity in recent years as more and more people discover the exhilaration of winter activity holidays in Arctic regions such as Lapland and Canada.

This interest is set to surge following the first episode of ITV’s new celebrity based reality show ‘71 degrees North’, shown on Saturday evening, which featured a husky dog sled race across 30km of arctic wilderness to an overnight camp as the first stage of the expedition.

Husky dog sledding is quite simply the most amazing way to witness the glorious Lapland wilderness and with a holiday from Activities Abroad, it’s possible to explore the frozen wilds from the comfort of your very own dog drawn sled.

Various husky safaris options are available ranging from an introductory two and a half hour trip to a 25km jaunt with lunch cooked by campfire included.

However, by the far most popular trip is a 48-hour, 50km husky expedition that includes a truly memorable overnight stay in a wilderness cabin.

There’s no better way to unwind after a day under dog-power than to snuggle up in a remote homestead in the middle of nowhere. The cabins may not have electricity or running water but that’s part of the charm once the fire is roaring and dinner is served.

After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast it’s a 25km trip back to the hotel with nothing but the wind in the trees, paws padding on snow and the panting of a team of huskies to break up the serenity of the journey home.

Activities Abroad provide a range of bespoke and tailor made holidays in Lapland, which include husky safari adventures and numerous other winter activity options.

Lapland is becoming more and more popular and the husky dogs are one of the main activities that have gathered speed over the last couple of years. Not just enjoying the husky dog Safaris but visiting the farms and learning about the dogs lifestyle and getting the chance to see and hold some of the adorable husky puppies.
